How Do Option Orders Affect Option Prices? The Black-Scholes Options Pricing Model, or any model for that matter, is not always representative of what happens in real life. These pricing models used to calculate the theoretical value of an option are limited to the following numerical inputs: strike price, time remaining until expiration, price of the underlying stock, volatility of the underlying stock, interest rates, and dividends. Many new traders fail to realize that orders executed in the marketplace may have an impact on the next bid and ask – the new reflected market. There is not unlimited supply and demand at any given price so option prices may change constantly simply due to this executed order flow. Special guest Steve Meizinger from the ISE will discuss option pricing, volatility, market making and how option theory is used in real life market situations. Register |
